We got stuck overnight in Omarama after the Lindas Pass got snowed out and was closed. Woke up to snow everywhere which was pretty cool. Missed a days snowboarding because of it but had fun drinking at the local pub with all the other tourists that were stranded.
There's nothing quite like home. We had an amazing trip but it's always good to have the comfort of your own bed. :) I'll hopefully be able to put a few more photos up from the weeks the server was down. Got another extended stay at the airport today until our flight at 7:55am. We went for the cheap flight from Phuket and got here at 1:00am. Thank god for the sleeping bag.

We spent a good couple of days just lazing around on these beds having people bring us beers and adjust our umbrella as the sun moved. Could really get used to something like that.

Had a touch and go stopover in Bangkok before catching our flight to Phuket. We didn't really plan it well and only gave ourselves 30 mins to reclaim baggage, get through immigration and check-in for our flight for Phuket. Only just made it and had to sign off on our bags saying that it wasn't their fault if they didn't follow us because we were checking in late. But all was good and our bags came out on the carousel with everyone eles'.
Time for some serious relaxing before heading home, only a week to go...
Back in Hanoi for our last couple of nights in Vietnam. It would have been good to have just a little more time to head up north and check out the Sapa region, but you can't do everything...
We've booked a 2day, 1 night boat trip cruising Halong Bay. Apparently if you haven't been to Halong Bay, you haven't been to Vietnam. Should be fun, photos to come...
18hrs in hard sleeper class from Danang to Hanoi. Our longest and most uncomfortable train trip of our whole adventure turns out to be our last. Thank god. Trains are a good way to travel but we've spent a good chunk of our time on them so we're glad to see the last one over.
We mistakenly took a tout taxi from the train station to 'our hotel'. Hanoi is the capitol of scams in Vietnam. After giving him the name of our guesthouse he takes us to a place in the old quarter that looks like the 'Hanoi Guesthouse' but once inside I know this is one of the scams I've read about. They rent buildings and appropriate the name of popular hotels to rip unsuspecting tourists off. I had the phone number of our place we had booked so asked them what their phone number was at which point they realized we weren't suckers but seasoned travelers by now. Funny thing was, the real one was only just around the block and we found it nice and easy. Scam avoided.
Another night train up the coast to Da Nang finds us eventually in Hoi An. Shared a taxi with a couple from Hong Kong to our hotel in Hoi An. And guess what? Its still raining...
Arrived in Nha Trang in the middle of a monsoonal downpour at 5am. Not the most welcome we've felt... But I'm sure it will get better.

Hope you all had a good one, we sure did . We ended up at the 5 star Caravelle Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City for an all-you-can-eat/drink buffet lunch which was amazing. After three months of cheap backpacker food, this was one hell of a treat. They had everything you could imagine and then some, it cost us a pretty penny mind you, but was worth every thousand dong.
We pretty much stuff ourselves until we couln’t move and they started closing down the buffet before we made our way back to our hotel and enjoyed a christmas nap.
